The Coil-Tainer™ system

A heavily patented transport cradle and support-beam base that loads, secures, and unloads coils up to 25 metric tons inside standard ISO containers — with no timber blocking, no bracing, and no single-use timber.

01 / The Problem

A 25-ton point load vs. a container floor

A steel coil concentrates enormous weight on a tiny footprint. Left unaddressed, that point load risks deformation or failure under the 1g longitudinal and 0.8g transverse forces of a sea crossing.

Traditional answers are bad trade-offs: breakbulk exposes sensitive steel to the elements and erratic schedules, while standard containers demand costly timber shoring and high-tension lashing that still fails often enough to scratch, edge-damage, or ovalize the cargo.

02 / How it works

From mill floor to container

A cradle holds the coil; a base sled spreads the load. The same sequence shown in the demonstration film. Watch the demonstration film →

01

Cradled on the saddle

The coil sits in an upwardly-open saddle — eye-to-front or eye-to-side — and locks to the cradle. No shipping skid, no timber.
02

Load spread to the bearers

The detachable base sled transfers the concentrated weight off the floor panels and into the container's robust outer longitudinal bearers.
03

Motionless, then unloaded

Locked saddle-to-base, the coil stays motionless at sea, then rolls out on forklift pockets — minimal handling, no waste.
03 / Engineering moat

More than a pallet

◎ Load distribution

Built to the container

Quarter-length pallets for lighter coils, half-length sleds for heavy loads — dimensions mathematically matched to ISO containers so weight lands on the bearers, not the floor.

◎ Cradled, not stacked

Prevents movement

The steel pallet cradles the coil, preventing movement or stacking — which is what prevents the damage.

⋔ Handling

Reduced handling

Forklift pockets let the same unit move through the chain without repeatedly re-handling the coil itself.

04 / The result

The Coil-Tainer™ system ensures

A motionless, protected coil from mill to destination — with fewer touchpoints, no wood packaging, and dramatically lower claims.

  • No timber blocking or bracing
  • No fumigation requirements
  • Reduced handling and touchpoints
  • Damage-free, skid-free delivery
  • Lower cargo claims and insurance cost
  • Reusable, ESG-aligned steel hardware
05 / Cargo

Built for coiled metals

If it ships as a coil, the Coil-Tainer™ system is engineered to carry it — safely, and without wood.
