Patented Coil-Tainer™ Pallet System

Safer global shipping for heavy metal coils

We move hot- and cold-rolled steel, stainless and aluminum coils up to 25 metric tons — secured on a patented steel pallet that spreads the point load into the container's structure. No timber blocking, no bracing, no skids. Regular sailings from Antwerp.

01 / The Problem

Traditional coil shipping creates expensive risk

Large coils are difficult to load, brace, unload, and protect. Conventional break-bulk and standard containers introduce movement, extra touchpoints, wood packaging, fumigation requirements, and preventable damage — leaving cargo exposed and shippers with claims.

The Coil-Tainer™ method is engineered to eliminate that risk at the source.

⚠ Conventional handling

Excessive handling, unstable blocking and bracing, exposure to the elements, and unpredictable schedules — the costs add up long before delivery.

02 / The Method

How Coil-Tainer™ works

The essentials in three steps.

See the full system →

01

Coil secured to steel pallet

Each coil is cradled and strapped to a specially designed, patented steel pallet — no shipping skid required.

02

Weight evenly distributed

The pallet stabilizes the load inside a standard container and keeps the coil motionless throughout transit.

03

Reduced handling & damage risk

Eliminates wood packaging, fumigation, and unnecessary loading/unloading — cutting claims and insurance costs.

03 / The Network

European steel, fed into global manufacturing

04 / The Advantage

Why shippers choose Hemisphere

01

A patented moat, not a freight rate

Competitors without the Coil-Tainer™ patents must fall back on timber shoring or breakbulk.

02

Lower claims & insurance cost

A motionless coil in a sealed container means dramatically fewer cargo claims.

03

An ESG-aligned supply chain

Reusable steel pallets eliminate the single-use timber that traditional shoring sends to landfill.

04

Backed by Independent Container Line

Our parent owns its vessels, containers, and warehouses across 35+ years on the North Atlantic.

05

Regular sailings

Regular sailings out of and into the UK, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean, backed by award-winning reliability.

06

One point of contact, door to door

Hemisphere handles CFS stuffing and stripping, customs, invoicing, arrival notices, trucking and rail.

05 / Recognition

An industry leader in coil logistics

Hemisphere Logistics / Coil-Tainer™ is recognized by the American Metal Market as an industry leader, and has been an Award Winner and Finalist for "Steel Excellence, Logistics/Transportation Provider of the Year" several times.
